Keeping our wai, whenua, taiao and pūrākau alive for our tamariki and mokopuna
Nau mai haere mai to our Pātaka Mātauranga - a living storehouse of mātauranga capturing our whānau, hapū and kaitiaki mātauranga of Te Whakakī-Nui-A-Rua.
It holds our pūrākau, history, waiata, tikanga alongside the science, monitoring, and planning tools used to protect our wai Māori and taiao to:
- protect and restore the mauri of our wai and whenua
- pass on knowledge to our tamariki and mokopuna
- guide our decision-making grounded in kaitiakitanga and Te Mana o te Wai
Wairoa Hōpūpū Hōnengenenge Mātangirau
Our Pātaka Mātauranga is both a taonga and a tool and acts as a place to honour the past, strengthen the present and prepare for the future.
